Mouse anti Human IgM antibody, clone 47.2.E9 is a monoclonal antibody raised in mouse that recognises the mu heavy chain of human immunoglobulin M (IgM). This antibody has been validated for ELISA applications. Immunoglobulin M (IgM) is the first antibody isotype produced during the initial stages of a primary immune response in humans and plays a key role in early humoral immunity. It exists both as a membrane-bound receptor on naïve and immature B cells and as a secreted pentameric molecule produced by plasma cells. IgM is widely found in the bloodstream and lymphoid tissues, including the spleen and bone marrow. Through its ability to bind antigens with high avidity, IgM efficiently activates the classical complement pathway, notably via interaction with C1q, and contributes to rapid pathogen neutralisation and clearance. |
