| Mouse anti Human CD4 antibody, clone rSK3, is a recombinant monoclonal antibody that recognizes CD4, also known as T4 or Leu-3. CD4 is a single pass type I transmembrane glycoprotein that is expressed on a subset of T cells, natural killer cells, monocytes and macrophages. CD4 functions as a coreceptor for the T cell receptor (TCR) and binds the invariant segment of Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) class II, found on antigen presenting cells. In T cells, CD4 is involved in thymic development and antigen recognition in the periphery. In macrophages and NK cells, CD4 has a role in differentiation, migration and cytokine expression. CD4 expression is typically used to quantify the number of CD4+ T cells in a sample. CD4 count is used to monitor disease progression in patients with HIV. Mouse anti Human CD4, clone rSK3, is derived from clone SK3, generated by cloning the variable DNA sequences into expression vectors for recombinant protein expression. |
