| Mouse anti Human CD66b antibody, clone rA10B10-04/4H2, is a recombinant monoclonal antibody that recognizes CD66b, also known as cell adhesion molecule CEACAM8, CGM6 or NCA-95. CD66b is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) family, which is involved in a range of cellular processes through homotypic and heterotypic interactions. CD66b consists of an N-terminal region homologous to the immunoglobulin variable domain, two domains homologous to the immunoglobulin constant domain and is linked to the membrane via a GPI anchor. CD66b is highly expressed in eosinophils and neutrophils, and weakly in bone myelocytes. CD66b is involved in cell adhesion in a calcium-independent manner, functioning with other cell adhesion molecules such as CD66c. CD66b is expressed on leukocytes of chronic myeloid leukemia patients. The level of CD66b-positive neutrophils found within tumors of patients with resectable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has been found to correlate with the risk of disease recurrence. CD66b+ granulocytes were significantly higher in patients with severe COVID-19 compared to either asymptomatic or convalescent patients. CD66b crosslinking leads to the directed release of preformed IL-8 from neutrophils but does not induce do novo synthesis of cytokines. Cross-linking the CD66b with a specific mAb or a ligand, galectin-3, induces tight cellular adhesion, superoxide generation, and degranulation. |
