F Reset| Mouse anti Human CD66 antibody, clone rB08-7A10, is a recombinant monoclonal antibody that recognizes an epitope common to CD66 a, c, d and e, also known respectively as cell adhesion molecule CEACAM 1, 6, 3 and 5. CD66 a, c, d and e are members of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) family, which is involved in a range of cellular processes through homotypic and heterotypic interactions. CD66 a, c, d and e all have an extracellular region containing at least one domain homologous to the immunoglobulin variable domain. CD66 a and d are transmembrane proteins, whilst CD66 c and e associate to the cell membrane with GPI anchors. CD66 proteins each have a specific expression pattern. CD66a is broadly expressed and the only family member expressed on activated T cells. CD66a has been attributed to multiple cellular functions, including the modulation of adaptive and innate immune responses, roles in apoptosis, angiogenesis, and involvement in the development of 3D tissue structure. The binding of CD66a by viral and bacterial adhesins can inhibit the function of immune cells, providing a route for pathogens to potentially suppress immune response to infection. CD66 proteins are associated with immune related diseases and are considered clinical biomarkers and promising therapeutic targets for various types of cancer. CD66a is involved in inflammatory bowel disease, with a protective role in models of colitis. CD66a is a biomarker in non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic adenocarcinoma and melanoma. CD66e is approved by the FDA as a diagnostic marker for colon cancer. |
