| Mouse anti Human CD157 antibody, clone rA47B47-04/2D6-8, is a recombinant monoclonal antibody that recognizes CD157, also known as bone marrow stromal cell antigen 1 (BST-1) and ADP-ribosyl cyclase/cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase 2. CD157 is a GPI-anchored glycoprotein receptor and ecto-enzyme. In the hematopoietic system, CD157 is prevalently expressed by cells of the myelomonocytic lineage, including macrophages, monocytes and mature neutrophils. Expression is not restricted to the myeloid compartment and CD157 has been detected in cells and tissues of different origins, including the gut and brain. A soluble form of CD157 can be detected in serum and other biological fluids. CD157 binds with high affinity to the heparin binding domains of fibronectin, collagen I, fibrinogen and laminin-1, through which it regulates cell adhesion and migration via integrin mediated signaling. CD157 has both cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase and ADP-ribosyl cyclase activities, however the functional role of CD157 as an ecto-enzyme is unclear. CD157 is expressed in the majority of Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients at the point of diagnosis and is a promising therapeutic target for AML. CD157 has been used as a marker for the diagnosis of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria. |
