C1s antibody | M241
Mouse anti Human Activated C1s
- Product Type
- Monoclonal Antibody
|Mouse anti Human Activated C1s antibody, clone M241, recognizes human C1s, a subcomponent of complement component 1 (C1). The epitope recognized by this antibody is domain IV and/or V of the gamma-domain of activated C1s and bind specifically at the active center of C1s.
C1 is a large inactive plasma complex containing one subunit of C1q, 2 subunits of C1r and 2 C1s subunits, which are non-covalently bound together. C1 is the first responder in the classical activation pathway in the complement cascade (Noris & Remuzzi 2013). The classical pathway is initiated when the C1q subunit comes into close proximity of the Fc regions of immunoglobulin’s that have bound close together to an antigen fixed on the surface of a pathogen. This binding by C1q results in the auto-activation of C1r which subsequently releases active C1s units. The newly released active C1s cleaves C4 and C2 creating C4b and C2a which then generate C3 convertase to continue the cascade (Janeway et al. 2001).
