Biotin Antibody, clone B25 is a monoclonal antibody that recognizes biotin, also known as vitamin B7. Biotin is widely used to tag molecules for biochemical and biological studies. This clone has been reported to work in the following application: ELISA. Biotin plays an essential biological role as a covalently bound coenzyme for carboxylase enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis, amino acid metabolism, and gluconeogenesis. It is ubiquitously present across organisms, either obtained through diet in animals or synthesized by microorganisms and plants. It is found attached to specific lysine residues of biotin dependent enzymes rather than being expressed as a protein itself. |
