CD68 Marker Antibodies

One of the most widely used macrophage markers

Bio-Rad provides an extensive collection of antibodies for CD68, with performance guaranteed in key immunological applications including; flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, western blotting and immunofluorescence.

We offer popular antibodies in a number of different formats, with a target species focus on human (Anti-Human CD68 Antibodies, clones Y1/82A, 514H12 and KP1), mouse (Anti-Mouse CD68, clone FA-11) and rat (Anti-Rat CD68 Antibodies, clone ED1).

Rat, Mouse and Human CD68

Rat CD68 Antibodies

Anti-Rat CD68 clone ED1 (MCA341) has been widely used as a marker for rat macrophages. Studies have shown that the antigen recognized by ED1 is the rat homologue of human CD68.

Mouse CD68 Antibodies

Anti-Mouse CD68 clone FA-11 (MCA1957) has been widely used as a marker for mouse macrophages. Studies have shown that the antigen (Macrosialin) recognized by the anti-mouse CD68 antibody is the mouse homologue of human CD68. Murine CD68 is expressed on macrophages and also on myeloid derived osteoclasts.

Human CD68 Antibodies

Human CD68 antibodies clone Y1/82A (MCA6014GA), clone 514H12 (MCA1815) and clone KP1 (MCA5709) are highly expressed on monocytes and macrophages. It is a member of the lysosomal/endosomal associated membrane glycoprotein (LAMP) family and the scavenger receptor family. Human CD68 has also been detected in tumor stroma e.g. fibroblasts.

The table below shows our complete range of CD68 antibodies, detailing the different formats and sizes available for a variety of applications. For all your multicolor flow cytometry needs antibodies are available conjugated to a large selection of Alexa Fluor and conventional dyes such as FITC and PE.

The widely used macrophage marker CD68 is mostly found within the cytosol. Therefore, detection of CD68 in flow cytometry membrane requires permeabilization. Bio-Rad recommends the use of LeucopermTM (BUF09) for this purpose. With Leucoperm, detection of intracellular targets in flow cytometry is as easy as detecting cell surface targets.

IHC detection of CD68 on paraffin sections requires heat-mediated antigen retrieval prior to staining. A citrate buffer, pH 6.0, is recommended for this purpose.

Our CD68 Antibody Range
