| Mouse anti BUB3 antibody recognizes mitotic checkpoint protein BUB3. BUB3 is a constitutively-expressed protein that acts as a mitotic checkpoint protein in the nucleus (Ersvær et al. 2020). BUB3 is one of the core components of the mitotic surveillance mechanism spindle assembly cell cycle checkpoint (SAC), alongside BUB1. This checkpoint prevents onset of anaphase until all chromosomes have been correctly attached to microtubules during the cell cycle (Li et al. 2018). Cells lacking BUB3 have an increased rate of chromosome mis-segregation, leading to aneuploidy, and furthermore to cell cycle delay or death (Yang and Lacefield 2016). Dysregulation of mitotic checkpoint genes can lead to cancer, and cytoplasmic expression of BUB3 has been found to be significantly correlated with recurrence. BUB3 has been suggested as a prognostic marker in prostate cancer (Ersvær et al. 2020). |
