| Rabbit anti Human CtBP2 antibody recognizes C-terminal-binding protein 2. CtBP2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CtBP2 gene (Turner and Crossley, 2001). In mammals, C-terminal binding proteins (CtBP1 and CtBP2) function as transcriptional corepressors (Shi et al. 2004). CtBPs bind to many different DNA-binding proteins as well as other co-repressors, such as friend of GATA (Fog), that are themselves bound to DNA-binding proteins (Fox et al. 1999). CtBPs are also able to dimerize and multimerize to bridge larger transcriptional complexes and function as scaffold proteins that enable the assembly of gene repression complexes. In mammals, there are two distinct isoforms of CtBP2; a 56 kDa isoform that functions as a transcriptional repressor, and a 106 kDa isoform that is a major component of specialized synapses known as synaptic ribbons. This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.
