Rat anti Mouse CD94 antibody, clone 18d3 recognizes murine CD94, a ~70 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed primarily by mouse natural killer (NK) cells. The murine CD94 molecule forms heterodimers with NKG2A, C or E subunits to form the CD94/NKG2 receptor. In mice the CD94/NKG2 receptor recognizes Qa-1b, a non-classical MHC class 1 molecule. CD94/NKG2 receptors may play an important role in self-tolerance of NK cells during fetal and neonatal life. N.B. Recent reports suggest that DBA/2J mice do not express cell surface CD94/NKG2A receptors (Vance et al. 2002). |
