Mouse anti PSME1 antibody recognizes proteasome activator complex subunit 1, also known as REG-alpha, IGUP I-5111, and PA28a.

PSME1 encodes a subunit of the proteinase system, required for efficient processing of antigens and for assembly of the immunoproteasome (Vigneron and Van den Eynde 2014). Antigen presenting cells and many other cell types express PSME1 under the control of interferon gamma. PSME1 is involved with immune defense against cancer, by generating tumor antigens presented by MHC class I molecules. High expression of PSME1 is associated with poor metastasis-free survival in patients with soft tissue leiomyosarcoma, and has been suggested as a prognostic biomarker for this cancer type (Lou et al. 2016), and also esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (Zhang et al. 2011) and prostate cancer (Sanchez-Martin et al. 2013).
