| Rabbit anti MMP-12 antibody recognizes macrophage metalloelastase, also known as MME and HME. Matrixmetalloproteinases (MMPs) are endopeptidases involved with angiogenesis, tumor invasion and metastasis (Klupp et al. 2016). MMP12 is a protease secreted from macrophages, and is a potent elastase (Wolf et al. 2019). It is involved with macrophage migration, but also appears to play a role in regulating the resolution of inflammation (Collison 2018). MMP12 is involved with oncogenic processes, appearing to be a critical regulator of malignancies. Knockdown of MMP12 in lung adenovirus cells inhibits tumor growth and invasion (Lv et al. 2015). MMP12 also appears to play a role in age-dependent stiffening of arteries (Brankovic et al. 2019). |
