| Rabbit anti Ki67 antibody recognizes proliferation marker protein Ki-67, also known as MKI67. Ki67 is a nuclear marker which exists in proliferating cells, with levels decaying steadily in quiescent cells. It is a cell cycle protein present during G1, S, and G2 phases, and its transcription is under the control of E2F activation. Ki67 has been shown to participate in ribosomal biogenesis, heterochromatin organization, and mitotic chromosome separation (Miller et al. 2018). Ki67 is a widely-used indicator of proliferation in oncology across numerous cancer types. In breast cancer, Ki67 may be an indicator of responsiveness or resistance to chemotherapy or endocrine therapy (Niazi et al. 2018). |
