| Rabbit anti Human cyclin D1 antibody, clone RM241 recognizes G1/S-specific cyclin-D1, also known as CCND1, BCL1, PRAD1. Cyclins are protein kinases required for cell cycle progression, and different cyclins execute their functions at different stages of the cell cycle by binding to cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs). Through its interaction with CDK4 and CDK6, cyclin D1 plays the essential role of promoting G1 to S phase transition (Alao 2007). The gene encoding cyclin D1, CCND1, is a human oncogene, and is overexpressed in up to 50% of human breast cancers (Casimiro et al.. 2015). Overexpression of CCND1 leads to dysregulated CDK activity, rapid cell growth, bypass of cell cycle checkpoints, and neoplastic growth (Qie and Diehl. 2016). |
