| Mouse anti ARF1 antibody recognizes ADP-ribosylation factor 1. ARF1 is a small GTPase which cycles between an inactive, GDP-bound state and an active, GTP-bound state. When active, ARF1 can tightly bind effectors and this binding results in biological function (Beck et al. 2008). ARF1 is involved with membrane traffic at the Golgi, including vesicle budding and podocyte function (Rafiq et al. 2017). Roles of ARF1 have also been identified in connectivity of mitochondrial networks and mitophagy (Ackema et al. 2014). Overexpression of ARF1 stimulates tumor progression and invasion, and therefore, blocking its activation has been suggested as a way to inhibit cancer progression (Prieto-Dominguez et al. 2019), and also to enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy (Xu et al. 2017). |
