Rabbit anti HRK antibody detects Harakiri (HRK), also known as Neuronal death protein DP5 or BH3-interacting domain-containing protein 3. HRK is a BH3 only protein of the Bcl-2 family, which promotes Bax dependent apoptosis. HRK regulates apoptosis through its interaction with the anti-apoptotic proteins Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL, and in conjunction to the mitochondrial pore forming protein p32. HRK is thought to have a specific role in initiating neuronal and haematopoietic cell apoptosis, in particular to growth factor deprivation.

Aberrant methylation of HRK is frequently detected in primary colorectal cancers. Despite its predicted molecular weight of ~18 kDa, HRK often migrates at ~12-15 kDa.

This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.

This product has been reported to work in the following applications. This information is derived from testing within our laboratories, peer-reviewed publications or personal communications from the originators.
