Rabbit anti PPRAD antibody detects peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor, delta (PPARD), a member of the nuclear hormone receptor subfamily. Upon activation, PPARD forms heterodimers with retinoid X receptors (RXRs), and functions to regulate transcription of specific gene sequences. PPARD controls genes involved in lipid metabolism, and enhances fatty acid catabolism and energy uncoupling in adipose tissue and skeletal muscle.

PPARD has also been implicated in the proliferation and differentiation of preadipocytes, enterocytes, keratinocytes and the placenta.

PPARD agonists could be used therapeutically to target multiple components of the metabolic syndrome, including insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia, and atherosclerosis.

This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
