Immunoprecipitation of UVRAG from Raji whole cell lysate. Mouse anti UVRAG antibody recognizes UV radiation resistance-associated gene protein, also known as p63. UVRAG is a tumor suppressor protein which surveys DNA integrity in response to DNA damage. It is a promoter of autophagy which plays an important role in maintaining energy homeostasis. UVRAG is important during the tanning response to UV light, downstream of the cAMP signaling pathway. It mediates biogenesis of melanosomes via its interaction with BLOC-1 (Yang et al. 2018). This process provides a first line of defence against development of skin cancer. Abnormally low levels of UVRAG contribute to the development of many types of cancer (Li et al. 2019). Accordingly, low UVRAG expression in patients with melanoma is associated with worse clinical outcome (Yang et al. 2016). Polymorphisms in the gene encoding UVRAG are associated with vitiligo, a disorder affecting melanocytes and causing loss of skin pigmentation (Rashighi and Harris 2017). PrecisionAb Antibodies
