STAT5 antibody | OTI9F7
Signal transducer and activator of transcription 5 (STAT5) refers to two highly related proteins, STAT5A and STAT5B, which are part of the STAT family of transcription factors. In response to cytokines (IL2, IL4) and growth factors, STAT family members are phosphorylated by the receptor associated kinases, and then form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the cell nucleus where they act as transcription activators. It has been shown that STAT5 is involved in diverse biological processes, such as TCR signaling, apoptosis, adult mammary gland development, and sexual dimorphism of liver gene expression. Though STAT5A and STAT5B are encoded by separate genes, the proteins are 90% identical at the amino acid level. Aberrant STAT5 activity has been shown to be closely connected to a wide range of human cancers (provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008).
Mouse anti Human STAT5 detects a band of 90 kDa. The antibody has been extensively validated for western blotting using whole cell lysates.
