EIF5A antibody | AB01/2G8
EIF5A is an abundant, essential translation factor which functions in elongation and termination during protein synthesis (Schuller et al. 2018). EIF5A is involved in the cell cycle, apoptosis, and in viral replication, notably replication of HIV-1 (Mathews and Hershey, 2015), and in autophagosome formation, mediating autophagy (Lubas et al. 2018). It is the only eukaryotic protein known to follow a rare but essential post-translational modification called hypusination (Pelechano and Alepuz 2017). EIF5A is a critical regulator of cell growth and development of tumors (Puleston et al. 2019). For example, EIF5A promotes metastasis in pancreatic cancer and mediates chemoresistance (Wang et al. 2019).
