Mouse anti Pig CD5 antibody, clone 1H6/8 recognizes pig CD5. Clone 1H6/8 was clustered as CD5a at the Second International Swine CD antigen Workshop (Saalmuller et al. 1998), based on its cellular distribution, ability to completely inhibit the binding of monoclonal antibody clone b53b7, the internal control for the second workshop and the immunoprecipitation of the same 55 kDa + 60 kDa doublet as the control antibody (Pescowitz et al. 1998). Porcine CD5 is expressed by all circulating peripheral blood T lymphocytes and some B cells. CD5 is not expressed by porcine γ/δ T cells (Saalmuller et al. 1994) and can hence be used for the discrimination between NK cells (CD4- CD8+ CD5-) and MHC-restricted cytotoxic T cells (CD4- CD8+ CD5+).

No reactivity of Mouse anti Pig CD5 antibody, clone 1H6/8 was noted with canine, bovine, equine or human tissue samples (Doménech et al. 2003).

This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product is photosensitive and should be protected from light.

This product has been reported to work in the following applications. This information is derived from testing within our laboratories, peer-reviewed publications or personal communications from the originators.
