Rabbit anti Rat GluR1 (pSer831) antibody recognizes glutamate receptor 1 (GluR1), also known as AMPA-selective glutamate receptor 1, GluR-A, GluR-K1 and glutamate receptor ionotropic , AMPA 1 (GluA1), when phosphorylated at serine 831.

GluR1, widely expressed throughout the nervous system is a component of AMPA receptors (alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxalone propionic acid receptors), which play a key role at excitatory synapses.

Phosphorylation of Ser831 and Ser845 is reported to potentiate GluR1 function, suggesting a possible role in synaptic plasticity, learning and memory.

Applications of GluR1 (pSer831) antibody

This product has been reported to work in the following applications. This information is derived from testing within our laboratories, peer-reviewed publications or personal communications from the originators. Please refer to references indicated for further information. For general protocol recommendations, please visit the antibody protocols page.
Application Name Verified Min Dilution Max Dilution
Western Blotting 1 1/1000
  1. 1 For the detection of phosphoproteins, serine phosphatase inhibitors such as 10mM Sodium Fluoride should be added to the sample buffer. Milk or other casein-based blocking solutions are not recommended as casein is a phosphoprotein and its use can result in high background.
Where this antibody has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the antibody for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
Western Blotting
AHP914 detects a band of approximately 100 kDa in rat brain lysates.
