| Rabbit anti prostate specific antigen antibody recognizes prostate-specific antigen, also known as PSA, seminin, and KLK3. Prostate specific antigen is a serine protease that functions in liquefaction of seminal fluid and remains localized to the prostate, withy less than 1% released to circulation (Cetinkaya et al. 2010). Prostate specific antigen is produced by normal and cancerous prostate cells, and is not produced in significant quantities in any other tissue in men. Prostate specific antigen can be a diagnostic indicator for prostate cancer, and can be used to detect recurrence after local therapies and to follow response to systemic therapies for metastatic disease (LeBeau et al. 2010). Accordingly, prostate specific antigen testing has increased the number of men diagnosed with and treated for prostate cancer. However, the value of systematic screening with regard to mortality is uncertain (Tikkinen et al. 2018). |
