| Rabbit anti Human p63 antibody recognizes tumor protein 63, also known as CUSP, KET, P63, P73H, P73L, TP73L. p63 is a transcription factor and important regulator of cell proliferation and survival. This protein plays a major role in maintenance and differentiation of stem cells, and is involved with epidermal development, heart development, and maintenance of female germ cells (Gonfloni et al. 2015). p63 is involved with tumorigenesis, and is commonly linked with epithelial malignancies including squamous cancers (Galoczova et al. 2018). Although p53, a close relative of 63, is frequently mutated in tumors, p53 is rarely mutated or deleted in cancer. Conflicting roles for p63 in cancer are suggested showing both oncogenic potential and also showing that p63 can function as a tumor suppressor (Inoue and Fry 2014). |
