| Rabbit anti NeuN antibody recognizes RNA binding protein fox-1 homolog 3 (RBFOX3), also known as fox-1 homolog C. NeuN is a neuronal nuclear RNA-binding protein, localized in the nuclei and perinuclear cytoplasm of most neurons in the mammalian central nervous system (Gusel’nikova and Korzhevskiy, 2015). NeuN is a regulator of neuronal splicing and is involved with neurogenesis and synaptogenesis. It regulates differentiation of neurons by alternative splicing of Numb. Dysfunctions in NeuN have been identified associated with neurodevelopmental disorders including epilepsy, speech disorders and autism (Lin et al. 2018). Accordingly, a role for NeuN has been suggested in human neurological function, and proteins regulated by NeuN have been suggested as therapeutic targets for treatment of NeuN-linked neurological disorders (Wang et al. 2015). |
