| Rabbit anti napsin-A antibody recognizes napsin-A, also known as NAPSA and ASP4. Napsin-A is an aspartic protease which is mainly expressed in alveolar type II cells of the lung, but is also expressed in normal kidney tissue (Yamashita et al. 2014). It is involved with maturation of surfactant proteins (Rekhtman et al. 2018). Because of the high expression of napsin-A in most primary lung adenocarcinomas and lack of expression in squamous cell carcinoma and other adenocarcinomas, the protein is a useful marker of tumour type (Uchida et al. 2017). Accordingly, immunohistochemistry (IHC) for napsin-A has been widely used as a sensitive diagnostic tool for lung adenocarcinoma (Zhu et al. 2015). |
