| Rabbit anti MAP1LC3B antibody recognizes microtubule-associated proteins 1A/1B light chain 3B, also known as autophagy-related protein LC3B. MAP1LC3B is a key protein in autophagy and is essential for autophagosome elongation (Liu et al. 2018). During autophagy, the carboxy terminus of MAP1LC3B is cleaved to produce LC3-I in the cytoplasm. LC3-I is then lipidated, resulting in LC3-II which binds to autophagic vesicles. Presence of LC3-II in autophagosomes is an indicator of autophagy. Therefore, changes in the location and abundance of these proteins can be used to study autophagy (Tang et al. 2019). MAP1LC3B has been found to be activated in solid tumors and is associated with tumor progression (Kang et al. 2019). |
