| Mouse anti Human INI-1 antibody recognizes INI-1, also known as RDT, SMARCB1, hSNF5, integrase interactor 1 protein and SWI/SNF-related matrix-associated actin-dependent regulator of chromatin subfamily B member 1. INI-1 is a core subunit of the ATP-dependent SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex (Kohasi and Oda 2017) which regulates transcription, and is ubiquitously expressed in the nuclei of all normal cells. It is thought that INI-1 acts an an adaptor protein, recruiting the SWI/SNF complex to the site of transcription where it can regulate transcription (La Porte et al. 2016). The protein INI-1 is a potent tumor suppressor. Inactivation of the gene encoding INI-1 has been implicated in pathogenesis of a range of malignant neoplasms that have rhabdoid cytomorphology, defined as large cells with specific nuclear and cytoplasmic features (Bishop et al. 2014). In addition to INI-1, over 20 members of the SWI/SNF complex have been found to be altered in human tumors (Biegel et al. 2014). INI-1 incorporates into HIV-1 virons and plays important roles in HIV-1 transcription and particle production (La Porte et al. 2016). |
