| Rabbit anti Human histone H3F3A (pSer10) antibody recognizes histone H3.3, when phosphorylated at serine 10. In eukaryotic cells, histones are proteins which associate with nuclear DNA and help condense it into chromatin, playing important roles in gene regulation. H3F3A is a common non-centromeric variant of histone H3, and appears to play a role in both gene activation and silencing (Shi et al. 2017). Post-translational modifications of histones alter the interactions between histones and DNA, and between histones and other proteins, with dramatic consequences for DNA transcription and other biological events (Sawika and Seiser 2012). This protein can undergo massive phosphorylation at serine 10, among other sites, altering the function of histone H3 in a temporal and spatial way. This antibody detects H3F3A when phosphorylated at serine 10. |
