Rabbit anti Human ErbB2 antibody recognizes receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-2, also known as HER2, MLN19, NEU, NGL. The protein HER2, encoded by the ErbB2 gene, is a transmembrane glycoprotein which belongs to the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)/HER1 family. The ErbB receptors carry out essential functions of development and tissue maintenance, but loss of regulation underlies many diseases (Wieduwilt and Moasser 2008). ErbB2 is an oncogene and is amplified or overexpressed in many human malignancies, including approximately 30% of human breast cancers, and ErbB2-overexpressing tumors appear to predict a poor clinical outcome (Yu and Hung 2000). Anti-HER2 drugs are used to treat HER2+ breast cancers, but drug resistance remains a challenge (Liu et al. 2020).
