| Rabbit anti CD20 antibody recognizes B-lymphocyte antigen CD20, also known as Bp35 and MS4A1. CD20 is a non-glycosylated protein expressed on the surface of B lymphocytes and consisting of four hydrophobic transmembrane domains (Pavlasova and Mraz 2020). CD20 is involved with the regulation of transmembrane Ca2+ conductance, and is also involved with cell cycle progression during human B cell proliferation and activation (Payandeh et al. 2018). Deficiencies of CD20 have been shown to produce attenuated antibody production and germinal centre formation. Owing to its structure and expression pattern, CD20 is an important therapeutic target. Therapeutic antibodies against CD20 have revolutionized treatment of B cell haematological malignancies. Anti-CD20 antibodies also play roles in the treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases (Casan et al. 2018). |
