Rabbit anti BAG1 antibody
recognizes BAG family molecular chaperone regulator 1 (BAG1), also known as Bcl-2-associated athanogene 1 and HAP.
BAG1 is a multifunctional protein involved with a variety of processes linked to cell survival including regulation of apoptotic, transcriptional, and proliferative pathways. Through interacting with BCL2, BAG1 is able to delay cell death (Aveic et al. 2011
). BAG-1 is also a co-chaperone for and negative regulator of Hsp70, a ubiquitous protein involved with protein folding and remodeling and response to cell stress (Götz et al. 2005
). As such, and due to its numerous cryoprotective activities, BAG1 is often considered to be an anti-stress protein (Maeng et al. 2008
