Rabbit anti Human Akt (pSer473) antibody recognizes RAC-alpha serine/threonine-protein kinase, also known as Protein Kinase B alpha, proto-oncogene c-Akt, RAC, when phosphorylated at serine 473. The Akt family comprises three serine-threonine kinases, Akt1, Akt2, and Akt3, which play important roles in cell survival and proliferation (Barnett et al. 2005). The PI3K/Akt signaling pathway is activated by growth factors, which in turn activates Akt, and regulates cell survival during stress (Hemmings and Restuccia et al. 2012).
