Goat anti Human clusterin antibody recognizes an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) region of human clusterin, otherwise known as Apolipoprotein J, a ubiquitously expressed glycoprotein and member of the clusterin family, implicated in apoptosis (programmed cell death), cell-cell adhesion, DNA repair, membrane recycling, spermatogenesis, and the inhibition of complement-mediated cell lysis.

Clusterin is a component of the SC5b-9 complex which plays a role in inhibiting the complement cascade, through the prevention of the binding of a C5b-C7 complex to the membrane of the target cell. Clusterin exists as both a pro-apoptotic form localised to the nucleus, and a pro-survival secreted form, and has been detected at elevated levels in Alzheimer’s disease, atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, and various cancers, including bladder, prostate, and breast tumours.

This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
