Ceruloplasmin antibody

Deficiency in ceruloplasmin is termed aceruloplasminemia, an autosomal recessive disorder which leads to iron accumulation and tissue damage, in particular in the brain and visceral organs. Clinical features include retinal degeneration, diabetes mellitus and neurological disturbances.
Elevated plasma ceruloplasmin has been shown to pose an increased risk in atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction.
