Mouse anti Horse CD23 antibody, clone 51-3 recognizes horse CD23 also known as Fc epsilon Receptor II (FcΕRII).

CD23, a C-type lectin, is the low affinity receptor for IgE, but also binds CD21, MHC class II and the integrin alpha-chains CD11b and CD11c. The extracellular domain can be released by proteolytic cleavage and bind ligands such as CD21. In humans and mice, CD23 is found on B-cell subsets and monocytes with low levels of expression on T-cells, follicular dendritic cells, eosinophils, NK-cells, Langerhans cells and platelets (Conrad, 1990). Key functions for CD23 include negative regulation for IgE and IgG antibody responses in B cells by influencing cellular activation and differentiation (Liu et al. 2016) and modulating allergic disease through IgE-facilitated allergen presentation, controlling allergen-specific T-cell activation (Selb et al. 2017).

Mouse anti Horse CD23 antibody, clone 51-3, identified small lymphocytes expressing high levels of MHC class II which were also positive for surface IgE. CD23 was barely detectable on blood T-cells or monocytes. A population with a median CD23 expression of 2.5% (range 0.9–4.5%) was found in equine PBMC (Wagner et al. 2012).

This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
