Janielle Cuala was born and raised in Guam and is currently a PhD student at the University of Southern California through the Medical Biophysics program.

Her research focuses on beta-cell structure and function within different biological contexts such as COVID-19 and early life stress using a multimodal microscopic approach (i.e., electron microscopy, super resolution, and florescence lifetime imaging microscopy).
