    • Rabbit anti Rat GABA B receptor 2 (pSer783) antibody recognizes gamma-aminobutyric acid type B receptor subunit 2 (GABA B receptor 2), also known as G-protein coupled receptor 51, when phosphorylated at serine 783.

GABA B receptors are heterodimeric G-protein coupled receptors which are important mediators of slow neuronal inhibition in the mammalian central nervous system. The functional expression of GABA B receptors on plasma membranes is dependent upon the co-expression of GABR1 (gamma-aminobutyric acid B (GABA B) receptor 1) and GABR2. Phosphorylation of GABR2 at the serine 783 site, by AMPK (5′AMP-activated protein kinase), is vital for enhancing the survival of neurons following ischemic brain injury.

For the detection of phosphoproteins, tyrosine phosphatase inhibitors such as 1mM Sodium Orthovanadate should be added to the sample buffer. Milk or other casein-based blocking solutions are not recommended as casein is a phosphoprotein and its use can result in high background.

    • Where this product has not been tested for use in a particular technique this does not necessarily exclude its use in such procedures. Suggested working dilutions are given as a guide only. It is recommended that the user titrates the product for use in their own system using appropriate negative/positive controls.
