    • Rabbit anti Rat CaMK II (pThr286) antibody recognizes calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase type II (CaMK II), also known as CaM kinase II, when phosphorylated at threonine 286.

      CaMKII is a multi-functional calcium and calmodulin-dependent kinase which has an important role in cell signalling and becomes autonomously active when phosphorylated at Thr286. Autophosphorylation of the α subunit at threonine 286 confers calmodulin independent kinase activity (Theil et al. 1988).

      Antisera to phosphorylated rat CaMK II were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbit with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.

      For the detection of phosphoproteins, threonine phosphatase inhibitors such as 10mM Sodium Fluoride should be added to the sample buffer. Milk or other casein-based blocking solutions are not recommended as casein is a phosphoprotein and its use can result in high background.
