Lagomorphs Animal Model Range – Anti-Rabbit Antibodies

Overview

The Bio-Rad rabbit antibody range includes monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies to rabbit CD markers, cytokines, and immunoglobulins. The wide range of rabbit antibodies is ideally suited to research into animal welfare and basic immune function analysis.

The rabbit, well known as a source of polyclonal antibodies, is also a valuable animal model for several human cancers and infectious diseases. In particular, it is a key translational model for ocular cancers (uveal melanoma, retinoblastoma).

Read our mini-review for a quick introduction to potential disease areas where rabbit immunology could become the model of choice for translational medicine research.

Rabbit Model for Disease Research

Rabbits have been demonstrated to be a better animal model for certain diseases such as non-lethal human and equine West Nile Virus (WNV) infections than mouse or hamster models (Suen et al. 2015). A review (Peng et al. 2015) on rabbit as model for a range of human infectious diseases covers AIDS, adult T-cell leukemia–lymphoma, tuberculosis and syphilis.

Rabbits are also used as an animal model for studies on cancer, including ocular cancers (Cao et al. 2015), liver carcinomas (Parvinian et al. 2014), and pleural cancers (Kreuter et al. 2008). Finally, several systemic diseases (e.g. hypertension and atherosclerosis) are well served by rabbit research models.

Rabbit Antibodies

Bio-Rad’s anti-rabbit antibodies are available with a range of conjugates and tested for reactivity to rabbit markers. They are suitable for a range of applications including flow cytometry, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation and ELISA. Each is performance guaranteed for the applications listed on the product datasheet.
