Rat CNTF is a 22.7 kDa neuroregulatory cytokine which is found primarily in peripheral nerve tissue. CNTF promotes the survival and differentiation of neurons and other neuronal cell types.

Antisera to rat CNTF were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
