| Rabbit anti Human TIMP-1 antibody recognizes human Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 1, also known as TIMP-1, Metalloproteinase inhibitor 1, Erythroid-potentiating activity or Fibroblast collagenase inhibitor. TIMP-1 is a 207 amino acid, ~23 kDa secreted glycoprotein containing a 23 amino acid signaling peptide and a single NTR domain. TIMP-1 is a metalloproteinase inhibitor that functions by formation of complexes with target metalloproteinases, binding to their catalytic cofactor leading to irreversible inactivation of the target metalloproteinase. TIMP-1 also functions as a growth factor and activates signalling cascades via CD63 and CD29 (Uniprot: P01033). In humans TIMP-1 also functions to promote growth and differentiation of erythroid progenitors (Gasson et al. 1985). Rabbit anti Human TIMP-1 antibody recognizes both native and denatured TIMP-1, as well as TIMP-1 in and out of enzyme/inhibitor complex. This antibody is not known to be neutralizing.TIMP-1 is expressed by a wide range of cells including microvascular endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, mesangial cells and some fibroblasts. Rabbit anti Humn TIMP-1 antibody has been used successfully for the localization of TIMP-1 in a rabbit model of hypertrophic scarring by immunohistochemistry on formalin fixed, paraffin embedded sections (Tark et al. 2015). |

This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.
