|Rabbit anti Human TFAM antibody recognizes TFAM, mitochondrial, also known as mitochondrial transcription factor 1, mitochondrial transcription factor A, transcription factor 6, or transcription factor 6-like 2.
The TFAM gene encodes a key mitochondrial transcription factor containing two high mobility group motifs. The encoded protein also functions in mitochondrial DNA replication and repair. Sequence polymorphisms in TFAM are associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases (Belin et al. 2007). There are pseudogenes for TFAM on chromosomes 6, 7, and 11. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants (provided by RefSeq, Aug 2012).
Rabbit anti Human TFAM antibody detects a band of 29 kDa. The antibody has been extensively validated for western blotting using whole cell lysates.
