Rabbit anti Human SphK1 antibody detects epitopes within the N-terminal region human SphK1, also known sphingosine kinase 1. SphK1 catalyzes the phosphorylation of sphingosine 1-phosphate; an important lipid mediator with multiple functions. In light of this, SphK1 has been implicated in regulation of Ca²⁺ homoeostasis, inflammation, immunity and cancer growth. However, its central function is thought to be in the development of the cardiovascular and central nervous system. SphK1 has a molecular weight of ~42 kDa.

Antiserum Preparation: Antisera to SphK1 were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbit with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.

Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to the N-terminal domain of human SphK1, conjugated to KLH.

This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20°C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8°C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20°C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
