Rabbit anti Human SMAD6 antibody recognizes SMAD6, also known as MAD homolog 6, SMAD and mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 6.

The protein encoded by the SMAD6 gene belongs to the SMAD family of proteins, which are related to Drosophila “mothers against decapentaplegic” (Mad) and C. elegans “Sma”. SMAD proteins are signal transducers and transcriptional modulators that mediate multiple signaling pathways. This protein functions in the negative regulation of BMP and TGF-beta/activin-signalling. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for SMAD6 (provided by RefSeq, May 2009).

Rabbit anti SMAD6 antibody detects a band of 62 kDa. The antibody has been extensively validated for western blotting using whole cell lysates.
