Rabbit anti poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 antibody recognizes Poly (ADP-Ribose) Polymerase-1, also known as PARP-1, ADP-ribosyltransferase diphtheria toxin-like 1 (ARTD1), NAD(+) ADP-ribosyltransferase 1 (ADPRT 1) and Poly[ADP-ribose] synthase 1. It belongs to the Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) family. The PARP family is composed of 18 proteins, encoded by different genes and displaying a conserved catalytic domain (Dantzer at al. 2004). PARP1 is involved in DNA repair (Rouleau et al. 2010), chromatin remodeling, transcription, replication and recombination (Morales et al. 2014). Cleavage of PARP1 has been used extensively as a marker of apoptosis (Oliver et al. 1998).
