Rabbit anti p53 (pSer46) antibody
recognizes the p53 tumor suppressor protein, also known as cellular tumor antigen p53 or NY-CO-13, when phosphorylated at serine 46. The p53 protein is important in multicellular organisms, where it regulates cell cycle progression to allow DNA repair or apoptosis in the case of irreparably damaged cells and thus functions as a tumor suppressor, involved in preventing cancer (Haupt et al. 2003
). Mutations in the p53 gene are found in approximately half the cases of human cancer (Joerger and Fersht 2007
p53 is phosphorylated at serine 46 in response to DNA damage. Phosphorylation of p53 at serine 46 is important for the regulation of p53 mediated apoptosis (Taira et al. 2007

Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
