Rabbit anti IRS1 antibody recognizes insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1), also known as HIRS-1.
IRS1 is phosphorylated by insulin receptor tyrosine kinase, and suppression is linked to insulin resistance and type II diabetes (Guo 2014). Nuclear IRS1 appears to contribute to malignant transformation (Reiss et al. 2012). It has been possible to predict onset of Alzheimer's Disease by quantifying a specific phosphorylated form of IRS1 which alters its function, reducing insulin signaling (Kapogiannis et al. 2015).
