| Rabbit anti EIF2S1 (pSer51) antibody recognizes eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit 1 (EIF2S1) when phosphorylated on serine 51. EIF2S1 functions in protein synthesis; it binds GTP and Met-tRNAi and transfers Met-tRNAi to the 40S ribosomal subunit (Kimball 1999). EIF2S1 phosphorylation at serine 51 is a determinant of survival and adaptation of glucose-deficient cells (Muaddi et al. 2010). It has been also demonstrated that EIF2S1 phosphorylated at serine 51 acts as a molecular switch that determines the cell fate decisions by activated Akt in response to activated stress (Rajesh et al. 2015). |
